Biomedical Materials
The field of modern regenerative medicine utilizes an array of biogenic and artificial polymer materials. These materials have the function of forming a three-dimensional (3D) scaffold enabling cells to generate tissue in the correct 3D form.
Unlike many other approaches, Polymaterials AG does not work on a single specific new polymer, but on a complete platform of formulations comprising polymer components and low-molecular weight additives (some biofunctional) which enable material properties to be modified in line with tissue specific requirements. The materials are hydrolytically degradable in the organism with adjustable half-life.
Two- and three-dimensional and gradient-like structures can be created, consisting of well-known polymer components. A multitude of cell or tissue types can be generated or reconstructed in this way. The goal is the creation of a broad range of products for medical and pharmaceutical applications with which diverse therapeutic methods or topics in the field of cell cultivation can be commercialized successfully.
